The Juvenile Assessment Center employs a full-time School Liaison who acts as the primary contact for school personnel and is available to visit and speak with staff in any school within the 18th Judicial District. The program requests school personnel send a school referral form when they refer a youth. The referral form allows school personnel to provide written notification when they have advised a family to contact the JAC, including documentation of issues and concerns staff have observed. Use of the referral form ensures that the school will receive follow-up if the youth does come to the JAC [follow up is only provided to contributing school district partners-see below].
Any school within the 18th Judicial District may refer a youth to the program. However, only the Aurora Public, Cherry Creek, Englewood and Littleton school districts receive specialized services from the School Liaison as they are funding partners. Specifically these school districts recieve from the School Liaison sharing of information between the JAC and school districts, attendance at various site and district meetings, and participation in community events as requested.
