SERVICES
The Juvenile Assessment Center provides services to youth residing in Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties. The program accepts self referrals as well as referrals from the Department of Human Services, Probation, Courts, schools within the 18th Judicial District and law enforcement agencies.
Please call for specific appointment availability. Appointments are available Monday through Friday. Limited weekend appointments are available. Please be aware that appointments generally take two hours to complete but can run longer. If a youth/family are more then 20 minutes late for a schedule appointment, the appointment will require rescheduling.
What to expect to expect during an appointment?
- Youth and parent/guardian will check in at the front of the Sullivan Detention Facility. All personal items will be placed into a secure locker in the lobby.
- Prior to an initial risk assessment, parent/guardian reads and signs disclosure and reviews behavioral expectations of youth while at the JAC.
- An Intake Specialist will obtain medical history to rule out any emergent situations.
- The Intake Specialist meets with youth to complete an initial risk assessment, which identifies areas of concern as well as a mental health and substance abuse screen.
- The parent/guardian will meet with the Intake Specialist to discuss areas of concern. Staff will develop a plan of action based on the outcome of the assessment tools.
- JAC staff provides individualized resource referrals to assist your family.
