History

The 18th Judicial District Juvenile Assessment Center opened in June 2000 as a program under the 18th Judicial District, District Attorney’s Office. Original programming focused primarily on community referrals for “at-risk” youth. In February 2003, the program was relocated to the Sullivan Detention facility, the Arapahoe county adult jail.  The relocation allowed for expanded programming and created a single entry site for all youth contacted by law enforcement in the 18th Judicial District.  In July 2009, the program was formed into a corporation, separate from the District Attorney’s Office, and became a non-profit organization.
